1) Hi Jorge, thanks for talking to us. Can you please give us an overview of your background and how you arrived at your current role?
Jorge: Certainly. I’m an Industrial Engineer and I also have a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA). I started my career as a Quality Engineer at a major automotive industry supplier and went on to work in a variety of roles within the sector, ranging from quality control to manufacturing and operations.
I came to Bostik a decade ago as Transportation Sales Manager in Mexico. Since joining the business, I’ve expanded my scope and today I am Commercial Director for the Durable Goods business unit, with responsibilities across the LATAM region.
2) What are your key responsibilities?
Jorge: My current responsibilities are for the financial health of the Durable Goods business unit and sustainable growth within the LATAM perimeter. As a result, my remit also encompass the recently created Born2Bond™ Engineering Adhesives division, which sits within our Durable Goods business unit, spanning a wide range of market segments including Automotive and General Assembly.
Our Engineering Adhesives division is a genuinely exciting challenge and brings Bostik a full set of innovative adhesive technologies intended for ‘by the dot’ bonding applications. It also complements our legacy business well, creating new opportunities to provide our customers the world’s most complete adhesive catalogue, and really exceed their expectations of performance and service.
3) What do you enjoy about your role within the Born2Bond™ team?
Jorge: I enjoy many aspects of my role, but in particular the global interaction and unity we have developed within Durable Goods and the recently created global Engineering Adhesives team. Whether we’re defining new product characteristics or the business plan for the coming years, we all closely collaborate and share a determination to find the best possible solutions for our customers.
Helping our customers to stay at the forefront of some of the world’s most advanced industries requires agility, commitment, and innovation – and requires myself and the wider team to tap into our entrepreneurial spirits. All of this takes a lot of hard work, but it’s extremely rewarding to see our products and services helping to shape industry trends.
4) What initiative or project are you most proud of since joining the Born2Bond™ team?
Jorge: I’m particularly proud of the work of our Engineering Adhesives division in commercializing true specialty products such as low odor and low blooming cyanoacrylates, advanced two-component cyanoacrylates such as our Flex, Structural and Repair products, and High Performance HMPUR Adhesives.
All the Born2Bond™ products we have launched are unique in the market and are already driving process or product design improvements as well as enabling better conditions in terms of safety, sustainability, and performance for the end user. Our goal is for Born2Bond™ to be known as the market’s preferred specialty adhesives brand.
